It is not as all inclusive as “The Oxford Companion to Wine” but for most of us folks this is a great reference especially for those beginning their wine journey and wanting to take the next step. The only wish I have, which keeps me from 5 stars, is the lack of many food pairings with the wines she highlights.

I will be returning to this book regularly over the next few years. The first few chapters convey general information about wine, while the rest focus on specific regions. Just make sure you dont talk about wine unless the other people you are talking to are just as interested otherwise you are a nerd.

Can one actually read a nearly page tome on wine cover-to-cover. When I was first getting into wine I would reach out for this book at my bedside and without fail it would soothe me like a night cap and feed my thirst for wine knowledge.

It’s a fun, entertaining read and it definitely hits you with knowledge. The Wine Bible has taken me a long time to write–in some karren I’ve spent the better part of my last twenty years on it. See all reviews. It was published inmeaning it is a bit outdated for with wine growing more and more popular each day, but it is still a great base for getting to know the basics of wine.
Possibly a good introductory text for your average American but somewhat scattered in its presentation of material. I basically pick up this book every couple of days and read a random section.
